Who We Are
We at First Baptist are a family of Christians that believe that a healthy church is one comprised of people from different backgrounds and life experiences. We commit ourselves to support one another through the stages of life so we can become more mature disciples of Jesus Christ. We are a community that ministers to the entire family. From infants to senior citizens, each member is valued and cared for. We are also a family that serves one another through the vast diversity of ministries we offer. Our desire is that as you connect with other people here at First Baptist Church, you will become a part of our church family. Our denomination affiliation is with “Transformation Ministries” - A movement of Baptist churches committed to change their worlds for Christ. Visit their website by clicking here. What We Believe
About God...
There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust, as a substitutionary sacrifice and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures. He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest. About The Scriptures… About Man ... About Salvation… About The Church… The local church is a body of believers in Christ who have been joined together by the Holy Spirit for the worship of God, for growth primarily through the use of the Bible, for prayer, for fellowship, for undertaking the Great Commission, and for observing the two practices of baptism and the Lord's Supper. About Last Things… The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ could happen at any moment and it will be personal and visible. This is the hope of those who follow Him and provides us with an incentive to holy living and faithful, joyous service. Where Doctrine Comes From 1. Researched truth: Research truth is that which we arrive at as a result of observation, investigation, and inquiry. It is the way we learn about the world we live in. 2. Reasoned truth: This is truth that we arrive at as a result of induction or deduction. We take those things that we have learned by doing our "research" and then make some logical conclusions based upon that information. 3. Revealed truth: Revealed truth is the kind of truth we can not know by either research or reason. For example, we can learn certain things about another person by research. Then by our reasoning processes, we can deduce certain additional things. But unless the person chooses to share with us things they know to be true about themselves, they will remain hidden from us. Doctrine is revealed truth. The doctrines of the Christian faith are there because God has chosen to reveal certain truths to man through His word which we find in the Bible. Thus when we talk about our doctrines, we are talking about things we know to be true because God has chosen to reveal them to us. If you have any further questions concerning our doctrinal position or any questions concerning any part of the Christian faith, we encourage you to contact one of the pastoral staff at the church office. We do not claim to have all the answers to every question but we will be glad to work with you to discover what the Bible teaches about those questions.
