First Baptist Church Ventura desires to be a church where all people can DISCOVER who they are in Christ, DEVELOP their faith and purpose in Him, and be DEPLOYED to serve their families, friends, church, community and world. Here at FBC Ventura we call these the "Three D's" - and that's what we're all about - living life in "3-D."

Middle School Print E-mail

Welcome to FBC’s Middle School Ministry!

Come check out our ministry Sunday morning or Wednesday evening. My prayer is that you will find this ministry welcoming, warm, and a little wacky.

Seriously, if you’re looking for a place to have fun, make new friends and surround yourself with an incredible group of students and leaders this is for you. Check out the information below to learn more about what we do and how you can get involved this week.

Step 1: “Drive” (Attract a crowd) Wednesdays: 6:30-8:00, The Attic
This is a fun and crazy entry-level environment to which we want students to be excited and proud to invite their friends. By using such tools as fun games, appropriate praise and worship style, and hospitable adult interaction, we want students to leave with the desire to invite their friends back. Our intention is to attract a crowd (as Jesus did in Mark 2:13, Mark 3:7-9, Mark 3:20, Mark 4:1 etc…) and invite them to take the next step (as Jesus called Levi out of the crowd and said “Follow me”) toward spiritual maturity (i.e. Elev8 & Student Service). Our focus at Red Tide is on those we are trying to reach, not those we are trying to keep.

Step 2: “the Core” (Intentional Relationships)
This environment builds intentional relationships for the purpose of life transformation. We do this through “Core Groups” (small groups) which meet weekly for Bible study, mutual encouragement, accountability, and prayer. Small groups are led by a mature adult believer and one assistant and require a minimum commitment of one year. Staff members will follow up with small group leaders for evaluation, encouragement, and care. Small group leaders are expected to contact their students outside of church twice a month through email, phone calls, meeting in person, etc…

Step 3: “Student Service” (Service Habits)
This environment is designed to introduce students to selfless service. Students will have the opportunity to participate in several service projects throughout the year with the large group and also in a few service projects within their core group. We will also introduce students to cross cultural missions during spring break with a missions trip to Rainbow Acres in Arizona.

Camps
Twice a year we head up into the mountains for Winter and Summer Camp. Hume Lake is our destination in the summer and Pine Summit in the winter. These camps are packed full of fun games, challenging teaching, and opportunities to just be still and relax amidst God’s creation. Don’t miss out on creating incredible camp memories!

Mission Trips
Every year we take students on a spring mission trip. We take part in singing, drama, and basic construction such as painting and cleaning. This is an intense trip that will stretch you and allow you to make a positive impact on those we serve.

How Can I become a Middle School Leader?
I’m glad you asked! If you have graduated from High School, love the Lord, and have a passion for investing in others then contact me at the office to begin the application process. One of the best things a person can do in life is to make a positive impact in the world that will out-live them. Being a Middle School leader is an excellent way to do this.
